Cinematic Sound Design

Mercury samples fourteen one-of-a-kind acoustic sculptures, hand-crafted by Hollywood’s premier instrument designer, Chas Smith. These creations painted the unearthly soundscapes of Dune and Interstellar, sang heroic anthems for Man of Steel and The Hunger Games, and textured terrors throughout the Saw film franchise.

Made in collaboration with Berlin-based composer, producer, and pioneer in experimental electronics, Hainbach, these one-of-a-kind, complex sounds have been expertly created from vintage test equipment collected from nuclear research labs and scrap heaps — given a new lease of life and transformed into instruments by the artist. Discover eerie morse code bleeps, comms signals and flickering bass pulses; deep drones, ominous pads and grainy textural rhythms; industrial drum hits and loops; electromagnetic noise and heavenly humanoid ‘voices’.

Built in collaboration with the visionary Dame Evelyn Glennie, Resonate unlocks the other-worldly mystery, magic, and tension of orchestral percussion. Tuned and untuned instruments collide across fourteen signals, then spin out toward new frontiers of texture, tone, and dimension. Hits, strikes, and spine-tingling scrapes give way to essential cinematic reverberations, captured at Hollywood’s most celebrated recording hall—AIR Studios.

Together with London Contemporary Orchestra, we have created a completely unique, never-before-sampled sound palette — a sophisticated collection of constantly evolving organic textures, formed by layering unexpected combinations of instruments. Enhanced with our unique Evo Grid, we give you access to a cutting edge, inspiring collection of instantly playable, spellbinding textures which will add incredible depth and colour to your composition.

A collaboration with Oscar-winning, world-renowned composer and soundsmith Volker Bertelmann, aka Hauschka (All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Adrift). Discover unique soundscapes ranging from industrial sounding percussive rhythms and thunderous bass lines to offbeat, atonal plucks and beautiful, shimmering pads. Performed on a Steinway grand with over 40 experimental preparations and expertly multi-sampled at Berlin’s legendary Voxton Studios, we have bottled Hauschka’s signature sound palette into a highly interactive and inspiring toolkit.
